Moving Right?

Despite Doug Hoffman's unfortunate loss in NY-23, yesterday's elections took a sharp turn to the right. Hopefully, this loss will convince the Republican elite that they ignore their conservative base at their peril.

A seat that has had a Republican since 1870 now has a Democrat. Would that have been the case if the 'party bosses' would have picked a true Republican candidate?

Gay marriage has failed in every state (31!) where the people have been allowed to vote it up or down. It's only 'legal' in states (5) where the legislature has mandated it.

Perhaps the people in Iowa, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Connecticut should put the question of gay marriage on their ballots. Let the people decide.
