The Travesty of TARP

Do you remember in September 2008 when then Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson demanded $700B to buy the 'toxic assets' from the books of banks and financial institutions? We were told if this wasn't approved the entire country would collapse. McCain dropped everything and flew into Washington to 'save our country.' Both he and Obama voted 'yes' to give Paulson the money. Of course, that vote showed us the difference between a conservative and moderate Republican, but that's a topic for another day.

We the People almost shut down the Capitol switchboard with our calls and over 90% of us said, "No!" to these bailouts. That's when Congress and the President (Bush, at the time) started to ignore everything we said. They passed legislation giving the $700B to be wasted by our government and they didn't buy the 'toxic assets' like they first promised. It was all a shell game and none of them have been charged or locked up for their criminal deeds. But, I digress.

We were told, at the time, not to be concerned because We the People would be repaid, with interest! Glory, Hallelujah! That is just what has happened, isn't it? Man oh man, we're in the money now!! I'm sorry, that hasn't happened, has it? It never will happen. Professional politicians (for the most part, but not all of them) do one thing really well - they lie. They stole our money, gave it to their friends and now we're finding out, one company at a time, it won't be paid back.

Since the TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) debacle of September 2008, there have been other things the government has ignored our wishes about. We called and said, "No" to the stimulus, we called and went to Town Hall meetings screaming, "No!" to their health care reform and I'm sure the list will continue to grow.

These politicians don't care what you and I think. They don't care what you and I want. They don't care because they have an agenda to remake this nation into a fascist state. Fascism is defined as "a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism." Any of this sound familiar? They have already begun with fear and intimidation and I'm sure the 'forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism' is on its way. I recently saw a Michele Bachmann interview and she made the statement that the federal government has already taken control of 30% of our economy and they are still aggressively seeking a hostile takeover of the entire health care system. If they succeed, the government will control approximately 48% of our economy.

These people are extremists that hate America and will stop at nothing to cement their power over all of us. The end result of what is happening here will be catastrophic if we can't stop it.
