Benedict Arnold

"Good God," he had exclaimed at the time of the Boston Massacre, "are the Americans all asleep and tamely giving up their Liberties"?

Benedict Arnold. What do you think of when you hear his name? Patriot? General? Hero of the American Revolution? Yes, he was all of these things but we all think of "traitor" when we hear his name. He fought valiantly for freedom and then turned against his country and committed treason.

He was born on this date in 1741 and, normally, I wouldn't write about Arnold but I believe what happened in his life is happening now with dozens, if not hundreds, of our present leaders in Washington, D.C.

We have elected officials in the federal government who may have fought the good fight for many years but now they are committing treason. The incredible thing is these people are doing this in front of the world and, yet, no one is doing anything to stop it. Why? Is it because we don't care anymore? Is it because we don't want to rock the boat? Is it because we have no idea what the Constitution allows government to do and so we don't recognize treason when we see it plainly in front of our faces?

We are doing what Arnold asked of his peers - Americans are 'all asleep and tamely giving up their Liberties.' What kind of people have we become? We expect an easy life instead of fighting for everything we get. We have come to believe we deserve certain things and that the government has to provide them for us. This is truly perverse.

I wrote an article, entitled T R E A S O N, a couple of months ago laying out the only Constitutional authorities of the federal government and made a strong case that this federal government and it's officials are committing treason against the United States. We have hundreds of Benedict Arnolds in charge today. They started out as patriots and have become traitors.
