‘Joe the Plumber’ wins congressional primary

Samuel Wurzelbacher, or “Joe the Plumber,” as he became known during the 2008 presidential campaign, is one step closer to becoming a U.S. congressman.

Wurzelbacher won the Republican nomination for Ohio’s 9th district and will face off against Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) this fall. He won the primary by 51 percent to 49 over Steven Kraus.

Wurzelbacher first hit the scene after a video surfaced of him questioning President Obama on his economic policies during a 2008 campaign stop.
